Moving Image Artists (MIA) is an artist-run organisation dedicated to supporting and cultivating contemporary moving image art and experimental film.
It was founded in 2019 by artists Daniel & Clara.
Our key activities are:
MIA Journal is an online magazine dedicated to contemporary moving image art and experimental filmmaking practices. The articles and interviews in MIA Journal are by artists writing about their own work or interviewing other artists, with an emphasis on creative process, exploring the form, themes and ideas that inform their work.
Moving Image Salon
Established in Spring 2019, the Moving Image Salon is a regular gathering for artists working in the fields of moving image and experimental filmmaking. It is a relaxed and open space for conversation and exchange about contemporary moving image practices, a networking event and critical forum.
We are currently running MIA NOW, a programme of activities to support creative and professional development for artists working with moving image and experimental film.
MIA NOW has been made possible with a project grant from Arts Council England.
This includes a series of Moving Image Salons, masterclasses, article commissions and mentoring opportunities. All the events take place online and are free to attend, everyone is welcome.
